La Misteriosa Necrópolis de Saqqara
El Serapeum de Saqqara, (1.500 a.C) es una necrópolis subterránea, situada al norte de Saqqara, cerca de Menfis, Egipto.
El arqueólogo Auguste Mariette descubrió este legendario lugar en 1850. Los veinticuatro sarcófagos hallados habían sido saqueados.
También encontró en este sitio la famosa estatua del «Escriba sentado», que se considera una de las más bellas esculturas egipcias. Posteriores excavaciones desvelaron una galería más antigua y después otra más. La primera de estas galerías estaba bloqueada por una enorme roca y fueron utilizados explosivos para abrirla.
Debajo de la roca fue encontrada la momia de un hombre, la del príncipe Jaemuaset, un hijo de Ramsés II, que era gobernador de Menfis y también sumo sacerdote de Ptah, y había solicitado ser enterrado con los toros sagrados, en lugar de en una tumba propia.
Mira el enorme tamaño de este "sarcófago". Su peso es de alrededor de 80 toneladas. La cubierta sobre 20 toneladas. Pero esto es sólo uno de los 24!
Todos ellos se elaboran de un bloque único de granito en una perfección increíble

Mysterious Serapeum Tomb of Saqqara
The Serapeum of Saqqara, (1500 BC) is an underground necropolis north of Saqqara, near Memphis, Egypt.
The archaeologist Auguste Mariette discovered this legendary place in 1850. The twenty-four sarcophagi found had been looted .
Also he found at this site the famous statue of "Seated Scribe" which is considered one of the most beautiful Egyptian sculptures. Subsequent excavations revealed an older gallery and then another. The first of these galleries was blocked by a huge rock and were used explosives to open it.
Under the rock was found the mummy of a man, the Prince Khaemwise, a son of Ramses II , who was governor of Memphis and High Priest of Ptah, and had asked to be buried with the sacred bulls, rather than in a own grave.
Look at the huge size of this "sarcophagus". It weighs about 80 tons. The Covering over 20 tons. But this is only one of the 24!
They are made of a single block of granite in an amazing perfection
